Came back here for dinner on a weekday. Wasn't busy and I got seated pretty quickly. Ordered the tonkatsu shoyu ramen and karaage. I like the ramen since the noodles have a more firm texture and aren't too soft. The toppings and the other veggies in the ramen also go well with it. I would not recommend the karaage. I think it was overcooked and the taste and texture were not that good.

This place is worth the wait, but I would have liked a bit of a heads up that they would be just as packed as every other place in the area on a Friday night. The servers tried their best, but were out numbered. Thanks goodness they let us sit and dine at the bar. We were not in the mood to wait 30+ minutes and once we notice the decor, we just had to try the ramen. No other place would do. The interior and decor of this place is just down right cool no butts about it. Even the bathroom is beyond cool. They have a friggin tree inside their bathroom. I should have taken photos. At least I got a shot of their legendary gundam collection. I was a huge fan growing up. I literally felt like I was somewhere else like Vancouver Canada or Japan. Lmao. I haven't even said a word about the food yet. Yes the food was a just like in my dreams, perfectly seasoned the way the menu ingredients explain. I did not add anything to my ramen. I ordered the chicken tonkatsu shoyu ramen and I must say it was spot on. Even the chicken was tender and almost tasted bbqed. My partner had the garlic special which I believe had squid ink. Very nice touch and gave it more of a bolder smokier flavor. Also very beautiful. The only downside, I was still fairly hungry after. I wish I would have ordered an appetizer. Next time I'll be sure to try out on of their specials. Their base options blew me away, but the garlic special was good but not as good as the base chicken shoyu. In my opinion. I must say, the garlic special is still worth a try since it's such a unique flavor I've never really tasted in this way. Oh, and back to my roots, their water was very clean and refreshing. This really tells me a lot about how they care both about the establishment and their customers. I can't wait to come back. Last but not least, I think they deserve and award for best ramen that I've ever tried. Don't quote me because my ramen game could use some work. But at the same time, stand out food is still stand out food.

It's soup season everyone and I'm so excited to try all the soups and noodles in the city. I love Teinei the service was great and ambience is cozy. They're doing a restaurant week special so feel free to check that out. I ordered the pork gyoza and spicy miso ramen. I thought the pork gyoza was a little oily but the spicy miso was quite decent. Loved the service, my server was very friendly and welcoming.

The ramen here is really good. I tried their special barbecue Ramen and it did not disappoint. I was initially worried that it will be sweet but later surprised that it was so good. The service was great. Will recommend this place to all ramen lovers.

3.5 stars Hip and trendy Japanese spot in SLU with Japanese food - rice plates, ramen, small dishes. Loved that they had a full bar. The Okinawa Mojito ($10) was also awesome. Unagi Bowl ($19.5) - Portions were awesome but it's not the highest quality unagi I've had. Sort of mushy. Tasty though with ample amounts of sauce. Chicken Karaage Curry Rice ($16.8) - was nice! None of the food really knocked me out of the park though. Takoyaki Side (+$5.5) Staff is AWESOME. Awesome casual atmosphere. There is a legit tree in the bathroom.

My sister and I have been to Teinei 3 times and prior to the shift with their new menu, I went to Teinei before then. It's been my go-to spot! The service here is great! Toby is an awesome waiter that's not only quick but very attentive and makes sure you're well taken care of. He provides you with extra bowls to share and even tongs for ease of scooping ramen noodles. Even the chef works very hard in the kitchen. Often times, he might deliver your food to your seat. It's so amazing how they coordinate orders and consistently make delicious food. Speaking of food, their takoyaki is one of the best in town. Big chunks of octopus, light batter with a very crunchy crispy outside. We got 2 for $5.50 (part of a combo with ramen or rice bowls and speaking of ramen. Mm!! Spicy Tonkontsu Miso Ramen is to die for. Depths of flavor, lots of spinach, pork chashu and chewy noodles. Very well priced. Easily could be shared between 2 people and a couple of appetizers. It's so good it reminds my sister of the ramen she had in Japan. What a praise! I also recommend getting their curry dishes either pork katsu or chicken kaarage curry. They're both very delicious. I would skip on the gyoza, it wasn't crispy and felt like maybe too much water was added towards the end it lost its crunch when steaming. Teinei used to have sushi but with the sushi chef no longer with the restaurant, they are currently keeping sushi/sashimi off the menu until they find someone. I think food is still incredible and worth trying. These guys really know how to feed hungry customers like me!
